Whiskey Facts
Historical Origins
The word “whiskey” comes from the Gaelic term uisce beatha, meaning “water of life.”
Grain Matters
Bourbon is made primarily from corn and aged in new charred oak barrels, giving it its signature vanilla and caramel sweetness.
Scotch is typically made from malted barley and may feature smoky or earthy notes due to peat used during malting.
Aging & Strength
Most whiskeys are bottled at 40–50% ABV.
“Cask strength” whiskeys are bottled without dilution, delivering a more intense flavor and higher alcohol content.
